Is "Expert" not hard enough?

Well then, you might want to give this a whirl. A friend, clockwork, and I have come up with, through much trial and error, a configuration setting that absolutely rips off the Expert difficulty's head and shits down it's neck.

Although I'm sure we're not the only ones that have reached this conclusion and have made their own little "tweaks" to provide a much more intense gaming experience, I am quite proud in what we have churned out.

So, without further ado, take this baby for a test spin. Also, remember that this is still being worked on each day. We know it won't be perfect, so we ask that once you have played through it, if you can that is, give us some feedback on what was too easy and/or too difficult.

Remember, this was designed to be played through legitimately, so that means no "give health" or "give rifle" commands. If you can't do it without that, then you need to practice some more before you play with the big boys.

Note: To play this, you will have to manually save it as a .cfg file. If you do not, then it obviously won't play. Once you have done this, move it into your C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead demo\left4dead\cfg folder and open the Developer Console in-game. Once that screen is open, type in "exec Nightmare" (Or whatever the file name is at that point) and then restart the campaign to get the full force of the modification.

Expert is extremely easy, and if I had the demo for PC, I would be trying this now.

But on 360 with friends we play nothing but expert.

Perhaps expert on the consoles is easier, but I usually play nothing but expert and we've yet to beat it.

It seems to have gotten even harder after the last update

I've been wondering the same thing myself, and have reached the conclusion that the console must be somewhat easier to compensate for the lack of reaction time that console-players have. You can only move your aim so fast when holding a controller in the stead of a mouse and keyboard.

As for the PC version, you just have to play it safe and sacrifice your best friends and leave them for dead a few times while you run into the safety room, shut the door, patch your wounds, take another first-aid kit, restock on ammunition, then ask if they're still alive.

Wait, was I not supposed to do that? Is that a sense of guilt? Nah.

I think we have to play the other 18 levels before deciding if expert is too easy
I have a feeling that the later levels will be harder

Glad to hear it! We tried to spice things up without going over the top. Any feedback is welcome, although with the full version being released tonight I doubt this .cfg will be seeing much action (it was mostly just for the demo anyways).
