Screamer concept

The Screamer was combined into the Boomer. Initially the Screamer's scream rather than the Boomer's hurl was supposed to summon the horde:

Nothing. The boomer was planned to just explode for damage

The screamer was a cool idea, but the choice to have the boomer summon hordes with his vomit instead, was a wise choice. They felt that the screamer would have been too hard to see and kill before it got its scream out, and players probably would have felt cheated because there wasnt much they could do to stop it.

It's also a pretty lame infected to play as. You see the Survivors, scream and runaway... yay....

Same thing with the witch almost. If you were able to play as the witch you would have to wait for them to wake you and only attack one person.
A little bit more effective than the screamer, but just as pointless to play as.

I don't like the idea of this guy. Playing as him would never be as fun as wreaking havoc with the boomer, and he wouldn't be too fun in campaign mode.

Not until they decided to add his bile and puke in. Before, he would just explode, knock them back, and cause a good chunk of damage.

That'd boring to play as and gay as survivors. Runs up, guarantees some damage, repeat.

The screamer could have to charge his scream like the hunters jump.

I agree it probably would be less fun to play as though.

Well, the original concept was that the Screamer would spot the survivors and then he would have to run away to a designated spot where he would let out his howl. Maybe it would take a longer time like the Boomer's recharge for the screamer initially and you would have to survive by running around and hiding until you could alert the horde.

Atleast that's how I would translate it to versus.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. The Boomer takes at least some skill & gives the survivors a chance.
