Clean Game Crashes

Very, very, frustrating I have done everything to fix l4d as suggested by all of your posts. I have browsing for 3 days to get this thing running. L4D crashes randomly and cleanly it plays a repeating sound over and over again for 5 seconds and then just exits the program. I looked at the application logs and it is nothing familiar to any of the existing problems.

Found in computer management no window popped up saying l4d.exe encountered error.
Faulting application left4dead.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00070006.

My computer specs meet more than min requirements.
Mobo asus a8n32 sli deluxe 2.6ghz overclocked at 2.85ghz dual core.
RAM: OZC 2gb DDR2 Not faulty did mem-test on it.
GPU: XFX 9800gt 512MB
Microsoft windows professional SP3

I have all drivers up to date and I reformatted 2days ago

All drivers up to date and old ones cleaned out? Tried reinstalls? Removed the OCing?

I assume you're using XP? (you missed which version of windows it was... )

I havent tried normal oc but I have reformatted so no need to clean out drivers.

I will put my CPU on stock but I highly doubt it will change anything.

I have the same problem. I cannot finish any campaign because game crash to desktop every time. I've followed a lot of guide to solve this damned problem, but nothing works.
I've tried to:
- Reduce graphics and sounds options
- matt_queque method
- game executed in a windows without border
- multicore support disabled
- Application affinity in ctrl+alt+canc method
- Driver updated to 178.XX for nvidia
- verify of cache game
- Eliminated the local game content and re-downloaded
- Antivirus and antispyware disabled
- Every steam support solutions
- Questioned my problem to steam support (no answers at all)
- Open Steam door on my router
- Everything i can do of solution that you have posted

My computer running with:
- NVIDIA geforce 8600 GT with 178.XX drivers
- AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400+
- Windows XP SP 3
- 2 GB ram

I'm frustrated, please help!

P.S: sorry for bad english...

News of the moment: blue screen of death (never happened before). When it happen again i'll see if there a DLL problem..

I have tried both drivers the 178XXX and the 182XXX both of them crash. I get no in game stutter It just crashes. Sometimes I get the infinite noise loop and sometimes I don't.

Yes I cleared both drivers using driver sweep if I every changed in between them.

There are new driver nvidia 182.XX dated 3/3 in beta. They work very well but crash problem is not resolved yet. It seems that my blue screen of death was caused by usb overheating due to my modem or logic paging problem.
Ah kkang1287 what is your game resolution?

New test: even in single game crash after 13 minutes.

1280x1024.
I never trust beta drivers... I hope my fix will come with the new spring update for l4d. I am pretty sure it is the fact that L4D isn't really stable with my multicore. I have tried that mat_que_mode and it doesn't really do anything but lower my FPS and crash.

i had the same thing happen to me where my sound was crashing my game.

open up console and type "mat_queue_mode 0" and it fixed the sound issue for me..

No it is not a multicore problem I tested it already. Plus my frame rate drops significantly when I do that.

I've been having this issue for a long while now, kang... since the December patch actually. I'll crash one to 5 times a night, sometimes within minutes of each other. I don't just clean crash either I hard crash and have to restart.

So far I have found no solution.

PC- Intel Q9300 2.5ghz quad core, 6gb 866mhz RAM, nVidia GTX260, windows vista 64 bit.

Early next week I'm changing my motherboard, CPU, and RAM, upgrading to a Core i7, 1600mhz RAM and an EVGA motherboard... I'll let you guys know if I still get crashing.

I have this problem, except that before it crashes I often get graphical glitches. Stuff like models being stretched loads in random directions.

Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3
Latest NVidia drivers (haven't tried switching to old ones yet)
AMD 3.00GHz Dual Core Processor
4GB DDR2 RAM
GeForce 7600 GT 128mb

I also tried the mat_queue thing and that didn't seem to work.
