DeusExVeritas, you practically copied my idea and modified it a bit i.e. charge attack, hard to steer, dies on impact, can't stop when you've started running and so forth. But your version is a bit more thought through, so if I were Valve, I'd go with your version.

Personally I had a few ideas based on countering closet campers and rushers.
My first idea was concerning closet campers. Infected as a general rule have very low health and have to rely on stealth to do anything, but this is nigh impossible in some areas , especially the elevater even in NM, where the survivers will just corner up and spam bash, even worse, some will asign someone ot bash the back wall so you cant even hunter pounce back there, and with claw being the way it is even getting back there isnt as productive as it used to be. So heres one idea.
Think of a tank, that is slower, its arms are giant boney plates, its mouth has mutated into what can be seen as a gun or cannon. Its hands have fused into blades or anchors, but its side and rear are undefended and vulnerable, it has a little less health then a witch and is about the same speed as a boomer, maybe slower or something. It has two modes, mode one it moves around and can swing its blade fists with right click, the blades cut an enemy, causing some bleed damage, converting about 5 health to temporary health, and he does about as much damage I guess as a hunter doing this. his left click causes him to jam his fists into the ground, and allowing him to fire , or spit, at the enemy, the front plates protect him from frontal fire, but he takes extra damage from side and rear when rooted, so a pipe bomb there will kill him and he dies much faster if flanked an shot. The idea is he can hurt survivers when they are cornered, so they have to move to kill him.
I havnt decided what he would shoot, maybe acid, boomer bile, or spikes/teeth. Something to flush people out.
Bringing back smoker smoke damage may help with this though...
Secound idea was a little more out there, was thinking of an infected version of an eng, he throws up fleshy masses they form gurgling piles of fleshy turret things. Maybe give him a toggle to select what he wants to make. A lasher tentcle to damage people that get too close, a club to knock back, a gurgling boomer "mine" that blows up when shot or steped on. Give the infected guy a spit that blinds people or a basic claw for defense.
That was just something I thought would be interesting. I liked the movie, the thing, and that reminded me of it.

Not to burst your bubble, but with the new DLC comes an update to the current maps, which will eliminate alot of the camping spots and is also going to add alot of depth to the Blood Harvest map. Or so I heard... Or did I dream it...?

Call me a pessimist put I doubt they can solve all of the camping problems.
As long as there is a corner there is a camping spot. Though some are of course better then others i.e. closet, ramp, pipe, vent, behind the medical cot by elevater. This zombie is just meant to force the player to move, without the do or die mechanic of an explosive zombie. Though the tanking gaining hte ability to hit multiple targets has cured some of these I was thinking of a more consistant zombie, maybe with a lower spawn rate then the rest.

Description: Ruthless, suicidal arsonist doused in flammable fluid
Abilities: Spawns with a tank of fire (as already placed throughout maps) but the tank can be placed in an area prior to hiding until the survivors approach. Runs out relentlessly to spread the fire and set self on fire, attacking the survivors who ideally (for the infected) should be caught in the flames. Eventually dies due to burns if it is not killed by survivors. Can also knock over tanks of fire and run through fiery areas that are already placed within original maps if more appropriate during gameplay.
Availability: twice per chapter maximum.
Health: Enough to last 10-15seconds in fire and has the health the witch currently has (in order to compensate for fire damage since it'd be easy to kill with just one bullet or two while enduring burn damage)
Was also going to suggest the sleeper until i read some people had mentioned it. good to see a few of us have similar ideas. i was thinking about one resembling the common infected or a random 'corpse' lying around, even the ones which have no legs or other missing limbs. they are easily killed if shot before they begin damage but if a survivor is on its own and disturbs one right next to them then it grabs their legs and pulls them down to the ground. the attacked survivor can shoot them if quick to do so but if not then it's down to your fellows to help you out.
i was also thinking of rabid dogs in packs of three, called Hellhounds because the three of them close together resembles the three-headed dog Cerberus. Causes the damage that three common infected would but can drag survivors with health below 50 away, making it more difficult for fellows to come to the rescue.
let me add that 'the flamer' would not be a 'blatant homosexual' altough it would be rather hilarious if he had a mincey little run and a tight gold shirt...

Ability 1: Smoke Screen. Bigger version of the Smoker's death. Reduces HP 1/Sec. Otherwise, same effects as smoker's smoke (no outlines, coughing, vision loss etc) Lasts 15 seconds, cooldown 20 seconds. Large enough to fill in a room.
Ability 2: Paralyzing Dart. Shoots a small dart thats about smoker's ranger. Target starts limping as if red life. Red life targets fall down and must be helped up, but no effect otherwise.
Slow duration, 7 seconds, cool down is 5 seconds. If you hit, 20 seconds.
Two abilities, left and right click. If possible to code, these abilities are to be placed on the keyboard, leaving the mouse for normal attack.
Availability to Players: All
Health (compare to existing infected): Unsure, smoker maybe?
Strengths and tatics:
The smoke can be placed strategically, like at the elevator in mercy hospitable 4th level, heck if you do it well, inside the elevator as they rush in, causing 15 damage. You can do it in long corridors, hiding smokers or boomers. Actually you can hide boomers well with it, by smoking any given doorway.
With the low damage, and good cooldown, you can walk ahead of them constantly smoking, forcing them to wait and camp giving time to your infected to position themselves, or increasing the risk of a director rush.
The single target slow works well in the smoke, and generally helps the other infected aim them. Great with tanks and when everyone is running their butt off.
If there is two people down, slowing one would mean one of those that are down will stay down that much longer. Im sure you can think of other benefits to slow.
The red life one, since they are ALREADY slow, you technically disable one "gun" for a bit, and a 2nd gun to stop shooting and come back and help.
Summary:
Terrain control, either by forcing them to wait, or to take damage and vision loss.
Slow someone, forcing team to slow down along.

Yeah, but would be better if it actually dragged the survivor into the air, and clawed at him while flying in a circle. Makes it harder to shoot it, and it's a pretty original idea. :3
