Thinking of Moving to America...
Hey guys, Been thinking this over for awhile now and basically I'm fed up of living in the UK and I want to move... Why America? well I like their music scene - seems stupid? maybe but music is my life and I'm old enough to be able to do this now and I think a fresh start will do me some good.
Basically I'm thinking of LA/NY not sure which one don't really mind too much, what I want to know is what is the job market over there like at the present time? I know it's pretty bad all over the world at the moment but i'm not looking for some crazy well paid job just enough to get by, general retail stuff would be right up my ally and I have experience in that area anyway. My parents recently came into some money too so I should have alittle to get me kickstarted I'll have about £2000 which isn't alot I think it's about $3000-$3200 at the moment which should be enough just to get started, I'll obviously have to secure a job first unless I want to spend some time being homeless for awhile. haha. Someone recommended Craigs list for looking for a house share or something, so that's on my list of to dos. anyone got any input or whatever I would like some thoughts on the matter...
Anyone done anything else similer?

Also, your argument is invalid because you live in Boston.

hmmm i havent done anything like that but i had a girlfriend who lived in cyprus. I went to and fro from the UK and everything was peach!!!...until we had an argument which lasted a couple of days.
I had never felt so alone in my life - i was miles away from home, i had no friends i could go and see and for a couple of days i think i actually went mad.
If you are playing on doing this...get friends asap just incase something doesnt work out or whatever.
The world is a very small place...it really is but being alone at home is one thing..being alone away from home is another!
If your gonna do it then goodluck man!

Making friends has never been a problem for me, It would be if they spoke a completly different language though!
And I doubt I would feel alone anyway, I like my peace when it's necassary and right now I live in a small village and don;t really have that many close friends anyway, so the change wouldn't be that life changing. besides seems like most american girls like english accents? I CAN#T LOSE! hahaha

Whatever you do, DON"T COME TO LOS ANGELES. We have really bad schooling problems and if you plan on having kids, the elementary - high schools are really bad. Teachers are getting cut and class sizes are huge. I plan on moving to the east coast after I finish school. As for the jobs, a lot of public officials here are getting cut. The La Fire department isn't hiring.... but the few people that they are letting in are getting shitloads of OT, because it's cheaper than hiring new people and training them.... Now there's a new fire in santa barbara and thats more OT and few new people :'[ Good luck Mr Cow!! You better be top 1 in your fire academy next semester!!!!
The rock that comes out of boston is good .
Unearth FTW!

CraigsList sucks.
LA has tons of sluts.
NY is okay...... except the unbearable smelly people in Jamaica

I don't know what it has on it. Never had to take it. You should check the Internet for that info.

Boston is probably the best city to move to. Great music,Great restaurants, cheaper to live in than LA or new york, and it has that "something is always happening" kind of atmosphere without it being too ostentatious and loud. Plus there aren't waves of people roaming the streets, so you can actually walk places.
