And yes, the AS does more damage point blank than the AR. Damage on smoker range would be irrelevant to my post.

The only reason I mention it is because it really does depend. Smoker range/Medium range - the M-16 would be better, and in close range, the AS would still be dominant.

All I'm saying is that you're both right, but just that they do better in their respective categories.

however, pistols do 30 damage per bullet?

I was messing around in the alley behind the start point of no mercy, spawning tanks and witches and what not. I was trying to determine how long it would take for a weapon to kill a tank on expert. I must have gone through 8+ reloads of double pistols and the tank was still running around. I was no-clipped just above it, so all the bullets were hitting.What gives?

On expert, the tank has 8000 HP. Pistols do 30 dmg point blank, 22 at smoker range.

That means at smoker range - it takes 363 bullets to kill the tanks if you're not at point blank range.

The M4 is a smaller variant of the M16, and it was built for close quarters combat.

the M16 is much powerful and accurate but heavy.

I am pretty sure it's the M16 in Left 4 dead.
M4 ist the one from Counter Strike i think.

I don't believe. But the M16 slows the runspeed more down, of the tank.

It's relatively small size ingame makes the assault rifle easily mistaken for an M4 instead of the M16.

The Barrel and the stock are way too long to be an M4. Think of it as an M-16A3 (Since it's the fully automatic variant) with an extended magazine. :-P

Not sure I'd trust the word of the :4D Wiki. It also says "The M16 is the best choice as a general use firearm" when clearly the best general use firearm is the auto shotgun.

i agree, the autoshotgun has so many adavantages.

The L4D Wiki was a random site i picked up. check the internet. many sites, not to say all, talk about the M16, not the M4.

I take the m16 more now.
I find pulling the bolt back on the AS is very annoying during horde attacks D:
And it allows for more range, but I still prefer the HR or the AS on various levels...
For survival it doesn't matter though, since everyone glitches

(p.s. I actually used the HR in survival mode once, we balanced it out with shotties & an M4. granted we glitched, and only had to fight off the tank once. But still, the hr isnt THAT dreadful of a weapon to use. besides its fun to pick off SI from far away)

Agreed Miss. A lot of people just suck with any scoped gun whatsoever... but us girls can set it straight
