Mods on Steam
So I was wondering if there was an alternative of putting the mod files, instead of inserting the files in to Steamapps > Source Mods.

I need to know because I'm using cider ports of Half Life 2 and other games, so everything does not work on Steam.

Like say if I wanted to download Smod, where could I put those files other than Steamapps > Source Mods for it to work?

I know how to make custom maps and stuff work FYI.
