Removing vote kick and friendly fire would fix most problems online.
Seriously. It's so retarded how people join a game and then shoot at their partners. Or, how people bring up the vote kick to kick someone for absoluetly no reason. Imagine playing a game with no friendly fire or kick button (and the computer taking the place as people go idle). Perfect.

Not exactly perfect... griefers will always find a way, for one. If they can't kill you, they can still kill themselves to bring your team down a member. And with no vote kick, you can't get rid of them.
Or how about this? You're playing a game, waiting for a friend to join, and a random guy joins in. He won't leave even if you ask him politely. What then? All of you leave the game to start a new one?
No, in my opinion, the only thing that should change is the Infected's ability to hurt one another. Only the Tank should be able to hurt the other Infected, since he's so powerful. I'm tired of getting pushed off buildings by random teammates. >_>

Can be solved if vote kick was disabled on PC and only the admin can kick players, dunno about Xbox players...

Then the game would suck and there would be no challenge whatsoever.
Friendly fire was made to train people to be careful with their shots. Unfortunately most people abuse this feature, although you can always easily kick them.
Expert is difficult because of 100% friendly fire. If there was no friendly fire involved you'd just rush in front of your mobbed teammate and just fire at him and hopefully some bullets will hit the infected. Where's the fun in that?

Vote kick is really the only fair way to do it. I hate systems where only admins can kick, more often than not they're dicks and they'll kick you for anything and everything

I'm sorry, but this idea has no mileage at all for me. Why do you change the game because a minority of players act like dicks? Friendly fire is one of the major aspects of the game, but like any feature, idiots and losers will find a way to exploit this - you can't go making major game changes like that on a whim, because you'll never have a stable version of the game.

No thanks. It's nice being able to cancel ledge pulls, or any pulls for that matter, by having the Hunter scratch the Smoker. There's also the ability to vomit push (oh goodness, I'm totally blanking out on the name given to this trick) the Boomer once you get the timing down.
On topic: There are some servers out there where players can't call ANY votes. If you happen to find them, you'll realize they're some of the most retarded servers out there. Easy solution to griefers is to just play in-house games or casual scrims. Or if you don't have [enough] friends, maybe just find a PUG... They're still bad usually, but not as bad as the pubbers out there.
tl;dr: IRC is your friend.

I know of both of those, but the thing is they're so rarely performed. Nobody on a random Xbox match does those and most teams that play together don't even bother. It's such a small loss.

Alright, so that means that when I find myself with a teammate who just screams "F***TARD" into the microphone over and over, or a very immature small child who everyone agrees is annoying, I cannot kick them from the game?
Ragequitting levels would SKYROCKET because of the people who would normally just kick a bad teammate must now quit the game in order to get away from that bad teammate.

Yesterday i joined a public game, and someone who joined few seconds after me, was a griefer i knew from a game i was in, 2 days before.
2 days before this sucker joined our game and killed everyone for no reason, started a votekick against a good player (unfortunately succesfully, everyone thought, it is against the griefer).
I told the other players what a nice guy he is, and, they tend to believe me, not him. he started a votekick against me, and all pressed "no". the griefers reaction was not typical for an innocent, it was typical for a guilty. he didn't really knew what to say, and said, " ...when i killed you, you must have been the ass...." and shit like that.
it was a pretty embarrassing situation for him. and a nice revenge.

No vote kicking? Everyone will just quit instead.
No FF? No more strategy for survivors in L4D. Survivors just run and spray.
Both are very necessary. Your going to meet assholes online, it's inevitable.

Friendly fire makes the game more realistic. It also adds a challenge; if a teammate is being overwhelmed by CI, you have to be extra careful not to shoot them, especially on expert.

I'd be annoyed if they took vote kick out. What happens if someone who sucks/is a troll joins? Are we to just TK him? Also if friendly fire was out too we wouldn't even be able to do that. I think the pros of both these features outweigh their cons.

I think on a game like this, you NEED friendly fire and vote-kicking, I can only imagine going through versus like I did when I went to get Nothing Special - just rushing extremely fast and shooting all my team mates with auto shotguns. Why should we be careful, when we can just literally rip each other apart by firing at each other and killing all the zombies that are surrounded by our team mates. Hordes and Boomers would be so drastically nerfed if this was implemented.
And as for vote kicking, if you'd ever have friends games on a consistent basis, you'd see the downfalls of this - sometimes friends drop and someone joins instead. So now you're saying we should all leave instead of that one person and start again? That seems a bit rash.

This has been discussed so many times.
There is no fairer way to do it, Votekicking is the only fair way to do it on a game like this. Sure, it might take awhile to find a good team, but honsetly, isn't it worth it in the end?.
& removing friendly fire from Left4Dead would be like removing the scare factor of Silent Hill. It wouldn't work.

That's how we basically found our core group of friends, constantly playing in public and finding awesome people.
Votekicking needs to stay. It may solve the problem of people being butthurt over getting kicked, but it'll piss off everyone who wants to be rid of that absolute idiot who refuses to listen to anything or is just generally annoying.
And I like friendly fire...sure I pretty much destroy my team with it, but if it wasn't there I'd never learn to aim and not just spray wildly.
Plus there would be no shotgun tag...

How is getting voted off of a team a bad thing?
What I think is fucked up is when I'm obviously in a clan server and I'm on the opposite team. They think they're going to pub stomp but I prevent them from doing so. My team makes it to the safe room with plenty of hp and packs and then all of a sudden I get "Kicked by Console."
Now THAT, needs to be fixed.
I already know there's nothing you can do about it, but it's still really lame and completely unsportsmanlike. I don't mind when I get stomped really hard, it just reminds me there are ways that I can get better.
And this went completely off topic.

The game works fine as it is.
If vote kick were removed, you could be stuck on a team where assholes were your teammates. Their ability to kick you means that you don't have to play with those losers. If they weren't allowed to votekick you, when you finally realized that your fellow players were a bunch of bozos, you'd have to waste time thinking about whether you should quit.
On the Xbox I just use the rating feature to give such players a bad reputation - it doesn't work, other than to make sure you're less likely to play with those folks in the future, but I have hopes that they'll fix it.
If friendly fire were removed, the game would reward lazy play even more than it does now with the unlimited pistol ammo feature.

This is a stupid idea, removing vote to kick would make it impossible to remove bad players and friendly fire makes expert expert.

Well... friendly fire is to balance the game from people to shoot everywhere, or it tries, and vote kick is to get rid of the people who abuse it >.>

Removing people who can't read would fix the most problems online.
Also removing servers with dumb admins would fix most problems online.
Ah and removing lag, bugs, imbalance would fix most problems online to.
