WEIRD internet problem with L4D2 VS on Xbox

OK. I've sent an e-mail to Valve about this but I'm not expecting a response within the next 6 months, so here goes. Whenever I play a VS game on L4D2, I get about 5-15 minutes in and then my internet cuts out. I don't just lose the XBL connection - my actual modem/router literally resets itself for no reason. It runs fine until then and it's fine on campaigns, but as soon as I go on VS it breaks (I'd assume Scavenge as well, I haven't tried that yet). And it's only L4D2, because in 5 months of playing L4D1 pretty much solidly, I never had this problem. Anyone else had any problems like this and more importantly, know what causes it and know how to stop it? Cheers

Yeah I have been having that too, on campaigns as well my modem literally resets itself and I am kicked off xbox live. Never had this problem on l4d but l4d2 is unplayable atm. Fingers crossed for a patch!

Any chance of giving us some details about your modems so we can at least have some idea about what might be happening? I'm not promising anything, but I can tell you that we definitely can't help you with no information at all.

All the information you need is that this game is broken, I noticed you have started to clean house on a previous thread I have commented on by closing it down and I'm sure you will do the same on this one to avoid valve any embarrassment. I can see there will be no acknowledgment of this problem (the game closing down my router and the dedicated servers being completely useless) so I will leave it there and dedicate my time to better games made by competent developers needless to say I expected better from valve..... : (

L4d2 is not 'broken', so much as the dedicated servers arent functioning properly.

I'm sure you will do the same on this one to avoid valve any embarrassment.
this isnt an official valve forum. chances are they never see this. so no embarrassment.
Im sure they realize there is a problem.
Last night there was a 'game with the developers' on xbl, im sure at least one person mentioned the servers-that and they HAD to have seen the terrible connections.
-also, it was closed because there was a similar thread like it, and to prevent clutter, for lack of a better word, in the forums-duplicated threads are either locked or closed.-

if you want help, we/I can help you. if this is just to rant (im not saying it is, & im assuming its not anyway)-take your business elsewhere

As Lady Pwnage already mentioned, this is NOT an official Valve or Left4Dead forum. It is a fan run forum, where gamers communicate with gamers. The problems and errors forum is here only for gamers to help other gamers with their issues. We often manage to help people out long before they would get an answer from Valve.

It is unlikely that Valve personnel even read anything that goes on here. We have even tried to contact Valve directly with no luck.

There is no dispute that there are problems with the game/s. We do our best to help our fellow gamers out, though we sometimes can't figure out what the issue is.

Sorry if we are not up to your standards. I am sure you will find better games and better help elsewhere.

Yes I agree the game is not broken that was an exaggeration I realize that my post was a rant but it is hard to hide my disappointment as this server problem seems to have been there since crash course I know this is not a official forum but I have seen this before (gears of war 2 epic games) where problems are not recognized and only denied by the developer and certain fan forums alike and the game stays broken I am just concerned l4d will go the same way (then I would lose 2 sequels of my most loved/played games of this console generation) but my previous post was out of line and I apologize : )

Thanks. I know it is frustrating. We get frustrated here too when we try to help people with their gaming problems, and run into issues we can't resolve.

Registered just to say this.

You're not alone, this is a recognised issue with L4D2 and BT Home Hub.

Someone on the Steam forums has said that if you replace your Home Hub v2 with an old V1, only the xbox will disconnect, so if someone else in your house is using the internet or something, it will save them going through the same frustration as you!

I don't have an old v1, so I can't verify that info. Seems sound though.

Interesting. Thanks for the info!

(NB, this was why I was asking users what modem/router they were using, as I remember L4D1 had issues with a certain router after a patch recently )

My friend is also having major problems with versus mode, he suffers from major lag on both local and dedicated servers.

We live about three miles from each other and we both get out internet service through Time Warner cable. The only difference in our set-ups is the cable modems, I have the larger cable modem (unsure of the model #) that also handles my VOIP phone service which I get through the cable company while he has the smaller standard modem. I also have a Linksys WRT54G router while his xbox is connected directly to his cable modem.

I have no issues with the servers unless everyone else also has a bad connection. Last night I was well in the green while my buddy was lucky to get one red bar and would often get disconnected. He has no issues with any other mode but versus.

What concerns me the most is that if this is a problem with a particular make of modem can this be patched by valve? I hope so : (
