The Jockey's Voice... sounds a bit familiar.

Hey, did any of you play the Spider-Man PS1 game back in the day? If so, did you ever notice the similarities between the Jockey's voice and Carnage's voice? Could it be a coincidence with audio editing or could someone have a voice this weird? o.o

Just look here and tell me what you think.

They're similar, but different voices.

I find it cool though how you registered under the name "JockeyCarnage" just to make this thread. :P

I would not be surprised as some designers use a "SFX package" that has a variety of popular sound effects that have been reused over and over in several old games.

For instance, are you familiar with the sound that emits from the academy building (terran) when you click it on Starcraft? It's akin to a marine (supposedly) yelling in agony or pain. I have noticed that it has been used in quite a few movies as well as other games.

You have keen ears to pick up on the similarity as well as a sharp memory to recognize where you've heard it before!

Edit: Oh, here you go:

the sound of the marine screaming is what is used...not the corny fanfare that accompanies it. :P You can double click on the video to view the comments which states:

Terran Academy Starcraft. The name of the scream sound effect is: "gut wrenching scream and fall into distance" which has been used in many movies and games.
Apparently it's called the Wilhelm Scream:

Nice find Kagato - I KNEW I had heard that scream on many occasions but I always thought of Starcraft first.

Mediocrity at its best.

Haha, I kept that game for 3 years while I had that system, I loved it so much, but yeah, saddest part is I remember that game off by heart.

Anyway, it sounds only the tiniest bit different, probably from a SFX package but slightly tweaked to be closer to what was wanted.

Call of Duty uses the Howie Scream in the middle of the theme song everytime you gain a level. I find it hilarious each time.
