Left 4 Dead 2 Lagging!
Hi,
I've made this thread because i'm having huge problems with the slow framerates when playing Left 4 Dead 2 on PC.
I just bought it today and the installation went smoothly. When completed after about 15 minutes, i proceeded to have a try at the single player campaign mode because i had never got a chance to play the original Left 4 Dead and was new to the controls.
I immedietly experienced TERRIBLE fps speed during the short opening of the Dead Center campaign. This was happening to the visual aspect of the game and to the sound aswell. After reducing all the video settings on the game to low i noticed a very minor improvement but it was still nowhere near to a playable standard.
I found some of the threads posted by Iggy and used the "Can You Run It" website that was mentioned in the thread. My results are as follows:-
CPU: Minimum: Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
You Have: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7250 @ 2.00GHz
(PASS)
CPU Speed: Minimum: 3.0 GHz
You Have: 2.00 GHz Performance Rated at: 3.3 GHz
(PASS)
RAM: Minimum: 1 GB for XP or 2GB for Vista/7
You Have: 2.0 GB
(PASS)
Minimum: Windows® 7 / Vista / Vista64 / XP
You Have: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (build 6000), 32-bit
(PASS)
Free Disk Space: Minimum: At least 7.5 GB of free space
You Have: 19.6 GB
(PASS)
Sound Card: Minimum: Yes
You Have: Realtek High Definition Audio
(PASS)
Now apparently in the video card part of the test i failed, but i think that is a mistake, take a look at my results for that part:
Required ---- I have:
Video RAM 128 MB --- 132.0 MB
Hardware T&L Yes --- Yes
Pixel Shader version 2.0 --- 4.0
Vertex Shader version 2.0 --- 4.0
So clearly i meet the Minimum requirements, even much higher than them in some cases. So why is it that even with all the visual settings turned to the lowest setting possible, i'm still suffereing from lagg that really is preventing me from playing properly? Please could you respond with any other methods to increase framerates if there are any or if you have any sort of advice for my problem. If i need to update my graphics card are there any out the on the market at the moment that will allow me to play L4D2 at a good speed without slowdowns but is fairly cheap?
Thanks so much for reading! (I know t was a long thread)
