Play Station 3?

Hey,

As everyone here will have either/both PC or 360, I was just wondering if anyone else owns, and uses a PS3?

The PS3 is my main console *doesn't know whether to run and hide* and L4D is pretty much the only thing I play on the 360

Is anyone else the same? or highly use it for certain games?

How come you think they're a waste of money? (intrested from you being, as I can see, a PC gamer)

I am quite cold toward the PS3. Personally I loved Sony as a brand. The Ps2 was the winner of last gens console war, but when the PS3 came out with a $699 price tag, pretty much because it has a blu-ray player? No thanks. Then they wouldnt lower the price because they thought consumers would still buy it, but lowered the price of the PS2? Insulting to keep it around $600 when blu ray players went down to about $200. The library is very small, and the lack of dedicated servers on a lot of games is a troubleing issue. Of all the games you listed, I only like heavy rain. Heavy rain was the only game I have seen with such astounding graphics and plot mixed together. Most games these days are all graphics and no plot.

Im PS3 all the way,
If L4D was to come to Ps3, i dont think i would ever touch my Xbox again.
As of now, my Xbox is really only a DVDplayer, because my Ps3 isnt in my room.

Even now im considering selling my Xbox, but i wouldnt make much for it TBH.

I don't own one, and personally enjoy the Xbox quite a bit at this time. All of my friends play it, and (despite everyone having a negative opinion for it), I absolutely love a random custom game or friendly player match of Halo every now and again.

The playstation 3 has a huge collection of great original games, though. If I ever have enough money for one in this console generation, I probably won't think twice about dropping the cash to be able to play God of War 3 or the Ratchet and Clank games.

Its been confirmed (i think) to be exclusive for PS3 but, you make sense, they could just make it exclusive at release.

Id be pissed to see it on Xbox, But for SEs point of View, it seems smart
as long as they dont let KH touch Xbox I wont be TO mad.

if anyone cares, FFXIII sales for the PS3 were larger, if that counts for anything.

I've been waiting for the price to come down and it is getting low enough for me to consider purchasing the console now. I usually buy every console in a given generation, I already own the Wii and 360 so I just need the PS3 and I'm done buying consoles this go round.

If there's one thing that's letting the PS3 down, it's the fanboys. They stick the same old argument to anyone who owns a PC, 360 or Wii, "Omg, u suk nub, by ps3, u gay" is the typical responce from a PS3 fanboy to anyone.

Also, who're the PS3 fans to say they have free internet?, they don't now. If you buy something off Xbox Live with Gold, you can still play it with a Silver membership, aslong as it's THAT console and THAT gamertag. But PS3 Premium, you have to go premium again to play the content you downloaded. So Sony is now the money grabbing company.

And no, i'm not a Fanboy of any system, this is the list of the consoles i own.

Not in order though, but it shows i've got a history in gaming. And like TeamRacer, i take Gameplay and Storyline over Graphics, which what makes L4D great, unlike many FPS games, the gameplay is rich and the online will only drag you back for more.

But i almost bought a PS3, glad i bought a 360 instead, the PS3 community is full of BS. This is because of the fanboys though.

Whilst I agree with you regards Sony's 'we can charge what we like and people will pay it' attitude at launch (some of the worst marketing ever), the simple fact of the matter is that for a very long time, the PS3 was sold at a LOSS. The 'Sony are moneygrabbing bastards' argument is one that's frequently banded about by those that don't really check their facts, and seems to have been taken as fact by many.

The library isn't especially small. If you're comparing exclusive titles (which I assume you are), on the Xbox you have Gears Of War, Halo, Fable, Alan Wake, L4D, Forza Motorsport and Splinter Cell Conviction on 360, and LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain, God of War, Killzone, inFamous, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gran Turismo on PS3. It's simply a case of which games you prefer. There's plenty of other examples I've overlooked, but those are the major examples.

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but that's blindingly ignorant. EVERY console has its fanboys. PS3 fanboys are just as bad as 360 fanboys, and believe me, there are legions of both.
I own both consoles, and have experienced both online, and in my opinion, you have an easier time finding a game online with the Xbox, but the quality of player (and I mean as in their respectfulness, liability to ragequit, likelihood of getting abusive etc, not their actual gaming skill) is higher on the PS3. That's NOT to say you won't find excellent and polite players on the Xbox, and not that you won't find idiots on the PS3. That's simply based on my experience with a year of playing on both consoles.

As for someone's point regarding dedicated servers, it makes very little difference in practice. Only a handful of games actually use dedicated servers on 360 anyway.

At the end of the day, the PS3 has the better hardware but for a higher price. The Xbox has a better share of the market and is cheaper. At the moment, I'd say the Xbox currently has the edge over the PS3, but the longer this current generation of consoles goes on, the more the PS3's massive hardware advantage will start to count.

I'm assuming that you've never actually played Heavy Rain if that comment regarding plot over graphics is referring to it.

No I was actually accounting my personal preference. I dont care about exclusive titles if they are not fun to me. The xbox has a small library too considering my preferences. Now that my dog pissed my my 360, I might get a PS3. Ill see what time brings.

I was actually NOT refering to Heavy Rain. Ill edit that comment above. Heavy Rain was the exception that proved that a great mixture of gameplay and graphics CAN be done, if the developers care enough. I personally never played it but I watched my friend played it and I was wrapped up in it.

i have to ask, which Xbox games are Plot>Graphics.
you cant blame that on the Ps3 just because it has better graphics, the Xbox does the same thing.

And TBH, what older games were Plot>Graphics, just because older games have less appealing graphics doesnt mean they didnt try to make there games appealing, Outside of some classic RPGs(ChronoTrigger,Grandia), nothing really succeeded in Plot>Graphics.

il agree Fallout, StarCraft, many RPGs are very good for there Plots,

Warcraft? why say the plots are better than Warcraft 3, just because Warcraft3 has good graphics doesnt mean they were had bad plots.

FFVI had a waaaay worse plot than FFXIII, FFXIII had such appealing graphics, amazing Character development, amazing plot.

Castlevania? can you explain that one to me.

Zelda games have never had good plot, i know il be flamed for this, but they never have had good plots.
They are fun yes, i love them, but there plot aren't good.

Link to The Past: he worps from evil dimension to good Dimension (or past and future) thats original, but hes still just collecting amulets, stone, and a sword for an eventual fight with Ganon.

WindWaker: He uses a boat, that cool. but he is still just collecting gems, then triforces, for an eventual fight with ganon.

Original Zelda: it was original at the time, with puzzles and whatnot, but hes still just collecting triforce pieces for an eventual fight with ganon.

If a gave Mario a cool mechanic doesn't mean it has a good plot.

What im saying is It doesnt matter what generation it is Plot>Graphics is hard to come by,

ChronoTrigger, had amazing plot, it also had amazing graphic and gameplay at the time, it was good at everything.
FFXIII, had amazing plot, character development, amazing graphics and nice gamplay (debatable, i loved it)

Only reason i'm getting the PS3... I don't get all the hype around games like LittleBigPlanet, and ModNation. All they do is let you customize almost anything, which is generally a 2D version of Halo 3's Forge mode, in the case of LBP, and Forza Motorsport 2's Large array of Cars that you can upgrade to look like just about anything in the case of ModNation.
