Has anyone played it yet?, your thoughts on this Mutation that gives you Eight Special Infected at once?

For example, two Smokers instead of one, two Hunters instead of one etc.

Also, if you have, for shits and giggles anyone tried it on Expert?

I am NOT playing this on expert.

This is a half good half bad mutation, because fighting more than one SI at once is fun but sometimes it will be impossible to get to the saferoom.

I tried it on Expert on The Parish. I made it as far as the room where the Jukebox is and it was utter fucking rape. There is no fucking way any Left 4 Dead player can beat the entire campaign on Expert with Hard Eight. No player alive actually, thats my stance, and if you somehow manage to pull it off, you are officially God himself and I will forever bow to you.

Holy hell. Just a quick update.

This is soooooo much harder than expert realism or anything I've ever done in L4D.

A bunch of random people and I just did Dead Center on easy mode. Normal probably would have been impossible. It took us 6 tries to do the finale. The rest of the maps were ok...but the panic event on map #4 was a bit hard (we had to restart once).

We took advantage of the fact that you can shoot through players when the mode is on easy else we wouldn't have been able to do the finale.

By far the best mutation I have played to date simply because I haven't found anything in L4D2 to be very challenging...until this.

I've gotten through the first level of the Parish on Expert, no problems, just speedrunning. Restarted on the 2nd level 4 times but got through that. After that? Fucking impossible. I gave up but I was suprised to make it 3 maps on that shit. (speedrunning ftw)

I've beaten it on Normal and Easy. I mean, Easy and Normal alone seem like Advanced while Expert is declared Impossible mode. Literally.

This mutation is fucking crazy. I had 2 Chargers and 2 Boomers, one Spitter, a Jockey and a Smoker at the same fucking time. I almost had a heart attack.

Update: Played with mince, Blueman joined half way i think. Anyway, we were playing The Passing, we had an easy ride up until the second chapter and we got to the under the river tour part, we got burnt there.

But i saw more Hunters though, cute little things!


But fuck Expert Realism, if anyone, and i mean ANYONE can finish a Campaign on ANY difficulty...you're a god, plain and simple.

Just tried Dark Carnival on Easy with some random people. We got to the 3rd map, even though one member of the team kept running off by himself, and another kept lagging behind for no reason at all. The team kinda worked our way to the coaster, where I got left behind after getting snagged by a charger, and only having one pipe bomb in the whole team for the event in the 4th map. Made it all the way to the finale, but the rusher decided his time was too important to worry about setting up before starting the finale and the other two quit in frustration. At that point I gave up because with only him as a teammate, I knew it wasn't going to work well. I'd really like to try this with good teammates, it sounds like it could offer a good challenge for a coordinated team.

I tried The Concert as one of the first maps of the mutation. It seemed very difficult...people need to be on their toes at all times and I certainly didn't have 3 other teammates like that.

We can give it a shot tomorrow if you want.

Tried Hard Rain on Expert with Hard 8.

I'm sure you all know the outcome. It was terrifying. *rocks back and forth*

I skipped the 1st part of it and skipped to the Sugar Mill for the overwhelming challenge. We all got owned within 2 minutes. It was unfuckingbelivable. Smoker dragged one of us into a witch, he dies. I have a Jockey dragging me through spit acid, then a Boomer pukes on me at the same fucking time, so I'm dead. One gets owned by a Charger and the 2 Hunters were pouncing around trying to get the last guy standing. He killed one, only for the same Jockey that got me, got him, and he gets Huntered 2 seconds after while still being ridden.

Jesus Christ, the AI is absolutely ruthless.

This makes realism look like a joke even when realism isn't activated. With realism activated, this would be a nightmare. There is so much chaos. Every sense besides your sense of reaction becomes useless.

And just think..they have harder mutations on the way. ♪ It really is a nice change of pace from the craptastic ones we have had so far.

How do you do the mutations on realism?

To me this mutation would have been more fun had they given us more power to play with. For example, more chainsaws, special tier weapons, ammo piles, throwable weapons, etc.

Hilarous mutation. It's funny to see the SI steal each others kills. Once I got Smokered, Jockeyed, Huntered and Chargered AT THE SAME TIME!

Intense. i remember you ran out of ammo. then I ran out of ammo and I knew it was over. lol Did you by chance see that charger charge into the wall at the stairs we were at? LOL i laughed so hard

I saw that Charger!. I was laughing too, i've never seen a SI so dumb, until then. And yes, the mutation was indeed intense, was almost inpossible to be honest, i just quit because we couldn't get past the Under The River panic event.

I'm game, I ended up trying a couple more last night with decent teams and we were able to finish the campaigns. The finales are an absolute riot, with the constant stream of SI. I've noticed that on easy I was able to score kills pretty quickly using the M-16 and dual pistols since pretty much everything dies within a couple shots on easy. But on higher difficulties, I'm pretty sure dual pistols aren't going to cut it when body shots no longer drop them as quickly.

Is it really impossible for you guys on Easy? I did it, it was tough, but its something I can do again without having to worry too much. Normal is where its super hard, and don't get me started on Advanced and Expert. Its probably what the Devil plays in his spare time, but even then, I bet he too can't get far.

This is probably the best Survivor-only mutation I've played so far. Not alot can really top the fun the Versus mutations offer, but this comes pretty darn close. It's certainly intense, giving you a sense that you're totally screwed and makes your success that much sweeter.

I think Hard Eight should be added as a feature to Campaign mode. Something like a counter where you can adjust the amount of SI that spawn at one time, but let it be a number between four and eight perhaps? After my experience in this mode I really dread to think what anything more then eight SI at once could do to me psychologically.

All in all, a nice and welcome change from the plethora of non-Versus mutations that were either boring or just plain crap.
