What's wrong with infecteds?
I've seen an awful alot of posts about infected sucking, yet i don't see that problem myself.
I begin with the hunter. Ppl say that melee makes it completely useless and that any1 could fight a hunter off. You can do huge leaps and bounce by the walls, you can almost go anywhere with hunter, it's not like the melee is going to get you where ever you strike from. Since the hunters make it possible to get to places, it's up to PLAYER. At the start i felt like it was impossible too, but now that i use walls and everything as much as i can i almost everytime make a successful pounce on a player. You don't even need the walls necessarily, you can trick somebody by only using the leap from one direction to another, eventually getting the guy. But the maps usually offer many good places for hunter. Besides, it's alot easier with other special infecteds/horde supporting you. I remember alot of guys who always blocked my attack, but I eventually got em. Hunters also got a 10 damage claw attack, which is useful when survivors are blind from boomer puke or otherwise distracted, for example by the horde or a smoker hanging somebody from a rooftop.
From smokers, i've heard that the tongue is too weak. It has 50 hp as far as i know and that's enough. Usually i don't succeed to make alot of dmg per attack, but when I manage to do a successful attack with smoker, it does huge damage to survivors, often nearly killing the victim. Best times for smokers to attack would be dragging somebody off a roof or getting 1 while they're fighting the horde caused by boomers, or any other infected's attack. And survivors don't have to be so apart of eachothers that you could cause some damage to the guy at the tail of the party. And smokers can use cars, and witches as an advantage. When you do go solo, make sure that the guy isn't looking for you, or anything in the direction you are at. It's not hard to catch single survivor, all of the survivors have to MOVE to get to the goal.
Boomers are told to be useless also because of the melee. How's melee going to shake the blindess off? And the zombies aren't useless if they don't do any damage. Everything is based on teamwork in this game, and boomer's gonna need support too, as he supports the other infecteds. 20 seconds of zombies delaying the survivors isn't much for you, but for the whole team it would be 80 seconds of precious respawning time.
Tanks ofc, are also weak in some1's opinion, and they have limited control time and blablabla. It doesn't mean that if you have 6000 hp:ed large guy, you could do alot of damage to / kill survivors. Ofc you sometimes can, for example by hitting cars at em' dropping of the whole map. But they should avoid the bullets as much as they can like the other infecteds, you have 6000 hp, make a good use of that! Tanks also need support, boomer puking on the survivors, hunter pinning some1 or smoker catching some1 would be great. All infecteds gotta do is to make sure that it gets some hits. And to get hits, ofc you gotta slow survivors down by decreasing their health.
First person shooter as survivors is ofc very known mechanic, otherwise as the new zombie mechanic. I understand how this new zombie mechanic makes ppl confused. Survivors are all the same so the teamwork is easy and simple, but zombies as a team and individuals is a very complicated thing, and have to be practised and get used to, which is harder than getting used to simple FPS imo.

Ummm yeah.... digested version
Working Hunter Tactics
-Use wall jumps to let you pounce from angles they don't suspect
-Use team work to distract the survivors before you attack
-Use the hunters secondary to help the smoker take down survivors
-Use secondary when the survivors for it's 10pt AoE
Working Smoker Tactics
-Try to drag people off buildings
-Try to drag them when the Survivors are distracted
-Make sure the survivors aren't looking at you when you attack
Boomer
-Try to coordinate your attacks with other infected
Tanks
-Don't rush in and get crazy amounts of damage
-Try to separate the survivors so your team mates can help pick off the survivors
-Also try to attack with support of your teammates
-Try to attack when survivors are distracted
Survivors have a known mechanic and the infected have a bit of a learning curve to them and that curve confuses people. So take your time and learn how the infected each work best and you will be taking down the survivors.

I totally agree with Hege here, the abilities of the infected which some may seem to be ineffective at times, are extremely effective with the assistance of your team. I'd also like to add that I recently started trick pouncing the walls around a melee'ing survivor as the Hunter, almost always works and beats getting disoriented by their fists.

I'm recording survivor "make it" and "don't make it" stats, on a piece of paper. So far it's 7-21 (make it-don't make it). I think the infected might just have a LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTLE advantage.
P.S. I read the stats wrong. It was actually 7-11 at the time of this post. Atm it's 13-17. Still pretty darn balanced.
