While I've never heard of anybody getting motion sickness by a FPS game, I did see a webpage from xbox.com on the subject.
Video Games And Motion Sickness
About halfway down there is a treatment section headed in bold that offers some suggestions.
Motion sickness is normally caused by your vestibular sense(sense of balance) being disturbed. If what you see doesn't "match up" with the liquid in your ears that let's your body know it's balance, you get motion sickness.
Unless the screen is constantly shaking or something, I don't see someone getting motion sickness, but from the article and what you said, it's more common than I thought.

Actually there's not everyone who plays FPS could get this symptom. It won't harm anyone health's either.
The MS possibility could happen if you play an FPS game for a long time.

Right, I mean, I don't get it and I tend to have long sessions of playing. Just like motion sickness in a car or on a boat, not everyone gets it. I just thought it was interesting so I researched "motion sickness playing a FPS game".

I get motion sickness with FPS games a LOT...
I never played quake or unreal for those very reasons. There are some that REALLY mess with me. Half Life 2... no way. 2 minutes in and I'm ready to barf.
That said... Some don't bother me at all.
For a long time I thought it was head bobbing or shaking or other things... And I think that might have SOME effect on the situation, but it's not the whole story.
What I've found is that it has to do with the field of view. If it's too narrow, I get sick. If it's too wide I *might* get sick. So what you need to do is play games that you can change the field of view in. Just keep changing it and widening the field of view until it doesn't bother you any more (or as little as you can get it).
Some games it might not help at all... others you might have no problems with. Left4Dead at first gave me all kinds of fits but between changing the fov and just getting used to it I don't have any problems with that game at all any more.
Never had a problem with minecraft despite it being very stylized... BUT if I play it in a small window... motion sickness. It's kind of a crapshoot and you just have to learn to live with the fact that some games you just aren't going to be able to play unfortunately.

@Kanati
That makes a lot of sense, about the window/FOV being small. It was interesting to hear because one of the treatments on the website that I have linked said to sit farther away from the screen.
Since the remedies were only for Xbox, there was no reference to changing FOV because, for most games, we don't have control over that.
I never really thought about it, but in Minecraft I have the FOV at Quake Pro(highest) just because I like how it looks. I usually don't have any problems, and of course it's selective based on the person, but if the screen is abnormally small or narrow it just makes my eyes hurt. But that's pretty normal as well.

The only games I've had it with are Half Life 2 and Borderlands.
My mother gets it with any FPS game, so she doesn't play them, sticking to platformers and 3rd persons, puzzlers and such.
No tips for prevention, apart from don't play the games that set you off, lololol.

I think I've made a mistake writing this topics in the L4D room
it should've been put somewhere else like in General discussion or some kind like that.
I hope the admin will move this thread to the appropriate room.

I suggest that if you do play the game for a long time that you take breaks every once in a while. Roughly maps take around an hour or so to beat, so maybe resting your eyes and body every 15 minutes could help. Even game manuals tell you to take breaks to rest yourself and the game. :V As for me, I never get motion sickness from playing games, so I never take breaks. :V

Look away from the monitor more. A lot of people get to fixed on games. I keep funny comic strips and cards(I love cards) near or on my desk so I get distracted.
