New levels?
Built on the source engine, the modding opportunities for this game will be many. At release, Left 4 dead will feature just a few stages, for example hospital, cornfield and airport. What other locations (maps) would you like to see built by modders? What do you think would make a good level?

Slums.
Effectively the setting would be the kind of slums you would find in Mexico or Brazil or several African population centres. These places are effectively mazes and would make a very interesting close quarters battlefield.

Shanty towns, is what they call them. Yes, that kind of claustrophobic environment would make a great level.

I think a Ship at sea would be awesome. Very cramped and confusing, and you start at the bottom and work your way to the deck to get on a waiting helicopter before the zombie passengers eat your brains.

This map:
Don't be mistaken by the name, it's not related to L4D. Someone thought they were being funny I guess when they uploaded that video. What is is though is a map from the HL2 Zombie modification No More Room in Hell. Both the map and the mod look awesome. I'm hoping the same people mod some badass maps like this for L4D.

That map has made me want No More Room In Hell. Its brilliantly designed and appears to be massive.
I had to mute the Johnny Cash though Not my style.

Well from what I see that map could be made linear.
You start on the road as does that preview near the wreckage of a truck or car and you have minimal weapons and have to fight your way to the mall then at several points you find weapons and fight Zombies along the way. After much searching you find a way out of the mall (the front doors are out of the question as the car park is literally filled with Zombies) and have to fight your way to an extraction zone nearby.
Sounds good IMO, what you guys think?

How about a prison map? Start in a cell, get busted out and all the other prisoners are infected. Need to escape to the roof and get lifted by a helicopter.

That would actually be pretty cool. I remember a mission in Splinter Cell: Double Agent when you start off in prison and the whole thing breaks out in a riot/
So yeah I think that would be cool, but make it so a whole cell block is uninfected to make it believable. But these others wouldn't help you it would just be an all out riot with everyone panicking and stuff.
Another good thing would be if all the guards had abandoned the facility so there was just chaos
The four 'survivors' would be the four people in your cell.
I can actually see that as an awesome map!

That map is huge. With the AI director randomly dropping out zombies I'd say it would be a perfect map, especially if you get caught in one of the stores themselves, or find yourself outside of the mall in a horde of zombies. And with it's size, I'm sure there could be many 'safe houses/points', the roof being the final to escape. Just like in the original DothD, and Dead Rising. Malls ftw when it comes to zombies. I mean you have everything you need but it can be a death trap just as much as it can be a life saver. Thats why it's perfect.

Shouldn't be too hard considering there is a prison level in HL2. Someone would just need to re-program/design it a bit.

I guess there are other HL2 levels that'd be easily converted. Also, as they're linear, conversion should be much easier. On that note, "We don't go to Ravensholm..."

Know what would be nice for a for l4d mod map, would be a forrest and each safehouse would be in a shack or some kind of house in the forrest.

I imagine that is pretty much what we will get with the Cornfield map in the actual game. I don't know what the safehouses along the way are but its got a forest
