Left 4 Dead Demo Detailed - Steam Pre-Purchase Date Announced

IGN are carrying a news article in relation to the upcoming L4D demo. Doug Lombardi from Valve has let them know that we can expect a demo this November.

Also - a pre-purchase date has been announced for Steam. It is October 15th.

October 1, 2008 - Doug Lombardi, Valve's VP of Marketing, has told IGN that the upcoming Left 4 Dead demo will take place "from the front of the Survivor's first campaign (including the opening movie)." This area of the demo will encompass a hospital level, and an area "outside the Hospital."

"The main part of the game has you play as one of four survivors who are immune to the virus that has turned most of the population into a variety of mutant zombies.

The game begins -- roughly 2 weeks after the break out of the virus – with the first of four expansive campaigns (five maps in each campaign). The first campaign is the hospital (officially dubbed, 'No Mercy' - as you're challenged to make it to the top of Mercy Hospital)," wrote Lombardi.

Left 4 Dead has No Mercy

While a specific date for the demo was not confirmed, Lombardi told us to expect it in early November.

You can pre-order the full version of the zombie-killing first-person shooter at retail outlets now, or wait until October 15 to pre-order it off Valve's Steam service. Either way will save you an additional 10% off the regular price. Left 4 Dead will invade homes on November 17.

Other than the 10% off, it's kind of silly pre-ordering on STEAM. It's cool though that they added the bonus to the STEAM version.

Well - a pre-load will begin if you pre-purchase the game. It means you get to play the game the instant it is released.

Like Sierra said, when you pre-order it you can download the entire game but some files are lock (encrypted or some other techy whatsit stuff) that stops you playing until the release date... But you can play the second that the game comes out.

It makes sure you get the game when it comes out, i think theres no pre download because there is nothing to download
